Welcome back to Thrak Attack! This week didn't have much going on but there were a few things and actually a lot of cool news! So let's get started with that!
NEWS!
-Castlevania has been renewed on Netflix for Season 3 (I need to see the first two but I've heard good things)
-Dave Grohl joins the Yeah Yeah Yeah and Beck for a political fundraiser. (I love Dave Grohl)
-New Spider-People have been revealed in "Spider-Force" and "Vault of Spiders".
-Nikki Minaj becomes the first female with 1,000 billboard appearances.
-Pokemon and Tamagotchi may be collaborating to make Pokemon Themed devices for the original Kanto starters and Pikachu.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody is the story of Queen, not Freddie Mercury. It may follow him as the main character but it is a very pro Queen film. And let me tell you, I think this may be my favorite bio-pic. I legitimately thought through most of the movie that the actor that played Brian May (Gwilym Lee) was actually Brian May digitally de-aged. The music of course was amazing, the acting was great, the visuals were fantastic, and the attention to detail was fantastic.
I really enjoyed this film I loved seeing the band form and change and get their iconic songs such as "Another One Bites the Dust", "We Will Rock You", and of course "Bohemian Rhapsody". One of the best scenes was Freddie Mercury actually writing out "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the recording of that song.
Even though this movie glorifies and follows Freddie Mercury through his story and life; this movie really emphasizes the importance of the other band members. The fact that Roger Taylor, the drummer, did a lot of the vocals on the operatic section of "Bohemian Rhapsody". Brian May came up with the idea of "We Will Rock You" because Freddie was late. And that, in my opinion, John Deacon was the heart and soul of the group. Whenever the chips were down Deacon was there to bring the group back from the brink.
The movie dragged a bit in the third act with Freddie's solo career and break up with Paul; it really killed the momentum of the film. But when Freddie decided to turn his life around to the end of the film was cinematic gold. Freddie even says it himself in the film. When he's asking for forgiveness to the band, he admits that his solo music was crap. Because he asked the musicians and they did everything but Brian, and John, and Roger weren't there to make it better. This is why I really loved this movie because it showed the importance to Queen and not just glorifying Freddie Mercury.
The end scenes of Freddie and Jim meeting his family, the band getting ready for the concert, and the Live Aid performance were magical and perfect. It was just a well done movie with a good message and great acting performances. It really did this story justice and brought to light a lot of issues in the music industry and the music culture in that era.
Will this go on my ultimate movie list? It's a great movie but I don't feel the need to see it again so it will not be on my ultimate movie shelf.
All the Best, Ross
