Uncharted

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us on an adventure around the world with an iconic video game character Nathan Drake from the Uncharted video game series. The series is fantastic and proves it by having 4 entries in the main series and some spin offs. Does this film do it justice? We shall find out. First off all, the opening Playstation movie logo got me excited for more Playstation movies! I am currently playing through Horizon Forbidden West and would love to see Alloy on the big screen! But then the movie starts...in a scene that takes place 3/4th's through the movie that immediately cuts back to the beginning of the story. I understand that that is the most famous scene from the Uncharted games and that the director wanted to grab the audience from the start but that was not the way to get my attention. It also put a huge emphasis on the necklace that his brother gave him but that never became important. What I like about ...

Pokemon Legends Arceus

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? and welcome to the very first Wireless Wednesday! The weekly review post about video games! Today's adventure takes us to the Hisui region of the Pokemon world which may be Sinnoh in the past or may be Sinnoh in another dimension, the game doesn't entirely clear that up. It's been about two weeks since the game was released and I have sunk about 40 hours into it so it's safe to say I am ready to review it! So let's jump right in! This is not your typical Pokemon game. The basic premise is still there, you are tasked with completing the Pokédex and documenting every Pokemon in the region but this time the game gives you incentive to reach that goal and gives you different tasks and research points to find for each Pokemon. The battle system is still there although with minor tweaks but you don't technically have to enter a battle with a wild Pokemon in order to catch it and the game flows in and out of ba...

Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us to the many iconic places from our childhoods if every show from our childhood was about tennis. From the Krusty Krab, to the Sewers of New York City, to the sandlot where we eat Jollie Ollie Ice Cream. Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis is the next iteration of Nickelodeon's attempt to become like the Super Mario Franchise. Let's see if it worked! Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis is available on Apple Arcade so I played it on my iPad but I think it would be better off on my phone. Some of the controls seemed a little weird to be played on touch screen but oddly enough that was only during the tutorial. The game's tutorial made me think this game had terrible controls but in actual matches it actually feels pretty good! Nickelodeon over the past few years has been attempting to create a series of video games that replicate Nintendo's approach to family fun gaming. There's a Mario kart clone,...

Astroneer

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? Today takes us to many distant planets and worlds in a video game of exploring. Astroneer is a game originally released on early access in 2016 and was officially released in 2019 on Windows and the Xbox One and officially released on the Nintendo Switch today. The game focuses on exploration of new worlds and it is a joy! Unfortunately this is a terrible port and I know this because the reviews upon initial release were very positive.  Astroneer on the Nintendo Switch is a port from Windows and Xbox One in 2019. I know that this game works on a controller because it was on the Xbox, but for whatever reason I can't get out of the first section. I don't know if the button mapping is off, or if the way it was built on PC really doesn't translate to a controller, or if I'm just an idiot! But this game does not work on a controller. The visuals are great and are a cross between Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker and Min...

S1 Ep. 24- E3 Part 2 (and other various trailers)

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure is featuring lots of trailers. E3 was this week so we got lots of new video game trailers so I will be doing an overview of each conference. Disney also dropped 2 trailers this week for upcoming films so I will include those as well. DISNEY! Pixar announced their next animated feature starring Tom Holland and Chris Pratt titled "Onward" and it seems to take place in a modern world where fairy tail creatures exist. I'm thinking Netflix's "Bright" but for a younger audience. I don't know enough about it to have an opinion but you can't go wrong with Pixar. Disney also dropped the actual trailer for "Frozen 2". This is the 2nd film in the "sequel era" of Disney films. I am not particularly excited for this era but it's happening and Frozen 2 does seem to be making the best of it. It looks like an adventure film where Elsa and the gang travel to ...

S1 Ep. 6.5- Nintendo Direct

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? On Episode 6 we talked about my trip to Sedona and Ariana Grande's new album "thank u, next" but we just got a bunch of video game news from Nintendo in the form of a Direct. So instead of doing a standard Thumbstick Thursday this is an extra post featuring all of the news from the Nintendo Direct. Super Mario Maker 2 is a long awaited sequel to the game changing game which allows you to create your own Super Mario map in any style. It's going to be another huge hit for the switch and is going to please just about everyone. Super Mario Maker 2 is going to hit shelves in June 2019. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is getting a Version 3.0 update that will hopefully fix some balance issues and will also get a new character. The first official DLC character Joker from Persona 5; AND will be getting some new pokemon trainer, Solid Snake, and Simon Belmont amiibo's. Boxboy + Boxgirl will be launching on swit...
