Astroneer

 Astroneer

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? Today takes us to many distant planets and worlds in a video game of exploring. Astroneer is a game originally released on early access in 2016 and was officially released in 2019 on Windows and the Xbox One and officially released on the Nintendo Switch today. The game focuses on exploration of new worlds and it is a joy! Unfortunately this is a terrible port and I know this because the reviews upon initial release were very positive.

Astroneer on the Nintendo Switch is a port from Windows and Xbox One in 2019. I know that this game works on a controller because it was on the Xbox, but for whatever reason I can't get out of the first section. I don't know if the button mapping is off, or if the way it was built on PC really doesn't translate to a controller, or if I'm just an idiot! But this game does not work on a controller.

The visuals are great and are a cross between Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker and Minecraft. It's very blocky like Minecraft but cell shaded like Windwaker. I love the look of the game and really wish that somehow I could figure out how the game operates and that it would allow me to explore and interact with  the world but for whatever reason I cannot figure it out!

This is the first video game review of 2022 so here are the categories for rating video games. Art Style, Controls, UI, Smoothness, Plot, Characters, Music, Gameplay Loop, Length, Overall Feeling. Astroneer gets points for art style, gameplay loop, and length.

Astroneer for Nintendo Switch gets 3 out of 10 stars.

All the Best, Ross

S2 Ep. 4- April Showers Bring More Adventures

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This month's adventures take us to a bunch of places including AWOLNATION, Bumblebee, Midgar, and Camp Verde. It's been a pretty solid month with some pretty solid adventures! Let's see which one tops the list and which ones fall flat! 8. "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" by Fiona Apple This album is not at all what I expected it to be at all. I really liked Fiona Apple's older hits but I never actually dove into her discography past that. I didn't really know what I was jumping into and what I heard was not my favorite. The lyrics are cool, some of the piano work is really good but the songs are just strange and that's not really my vibe in music tastes. The songs that stick out on this one are "Shameika" and "Under the Table" but other than that it's just an odd album which isn't my thing. 7. "The New Abnormal" by The Strokes This is the strokes 6th studio al...

Pokemon Cinematic Universe

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure was Detective Pikachu which is an awesome live action Pokemon Movie but not the Pokemon we were expecting. Even though this movie was really well done, I believe there in the future for us in regards to another cinematic universe. The way they handled this film and the references in it are perfectly done and do set up a future for this for happening. SPOILER WARNING for Detective Pikachu, if you have not seen this please, go watch the film and then come on back! Alright let's get started with the film we received this past weekend. Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is a mystery film taking place in the Pokemon World based on a video game of the same name. Tim Goodman meets a talking Pikachu after his father mysteriously passes away. Throughout the film we realize that it is actually his father trapped inside Pikachu's body although none of the characters know this until the end. The villain's plan...

S1 Ep. 8- Dream Academy

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventures includes 2 new trailers, a review of Netflix's new show The Umbrella Academy, and Dream Theater's new album "Distance Over Time". This is the first episode on the new schedule, all episodes of Thrak Attack (blog, podcast, and video) will be up every Sunday to start your week off with an adventure. So with all of that out of the way, let's get into some news. NEWS! -The Punisher and Jessica Jones have been cancelled by Netflix. Good. I've disliked a majority of those seasons they are just too long and drawn out. Hopefully we get a season 2 of the Defenders though to wrap everything up. -Batman and the Ninja Turtles are getting their own cartoon movie crossover and the 12 year old in me is going bananas! This sounds awesome and I'm excited to see these two franchises interact with one another. -Clampearl is getting a specialty research event in Pokemon Go, I don't kn...
