Best of 2018 (Part 1)

Well another year has come and gone with some amazing adventures and memorable experiences! This part one of the years end review which I will list out all of the adventures I have been on this year. Every video game played, every movie enjoyed, every trip to somewhere new, and every musical adventure (song and album). Tomorrow's post will be the actual list but I wanted to write today and I figured to split up the post into 2 different sections with one as a general overview and one with the full list. So with all of that out of the way, let's see what adventures I went on this year!

MOVIES!

Black Panther- Well done but basic MCU film with HUGE fanfare.
A Wrinkle in Time- One of the worst films I've ever seen.
Avengers: Infinity War- One of the biggest films of all time and a big step for the MCU.
Deadpool 2- Another fun and inventive yet crude outing for the Merc with a Mouth.
Solo: A Star Wars Story- The 2nd anthology film for the Star Wars franchise, and another flop.
Incredibles 2- A well worth it 14 year wait.
Ant-Man and the Wasp- The pallet cleanser for the MCU.
Venom- A pleasant surprise of a super villain film.
Bohemian Rhapsody- One of the best biopics I have seen.
Ralph Breaks the Internet- The start of a new era for Disney films, and not a promising one.
Robin Hood- Cheesy, Ridiculous, Odd, Quirky, and extremely fun!
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse- A great animated film with a few bugs.

Total: 12
I will see Aquaman and Mary Poppins returns after the post but I will update it if need be.

VIDEO GAMES!

Monster Hunter: World- A much better Monster Hunter experience than handheld.
Shadow of the Colossus- A short but great remaster of a classic game.
Dragon Quest Builders- A fun for a while sandbox game with a Dragon Quest skin.
Kirby Star Allies- It's an easy and poorly controlled Kirby game.
God of War- An amazing visual and storytelling treat.
Nintendo Labo- One of the most unique video game experiences ever.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze- A fantastic port and platformer.
Elder Scrolls Online: Somerset- A hint of things to come for the Fallout franchise.
Fornite (Switch)- I don't get the big fuss, but I do get the big fuss.
Mario Tennis Aces- A promising start that falls flat.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker- A great game! for about 20 minutes.
Octopath Traveller- An inventive yet old school and soon to be classic RPG.
Spider-Man- The best telling of Spider-Man outside of the comics.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey- Assassin's Creed + Ancient Greece = Gold!
Red Dead Redemption 2- A fantastic game that is just too slow for me.
Fallout 76- An inventive game that was poorly executed.
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee- Testing the bright future of Pokemon on Switch.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate- The ultimate party video game.

Total: 18

ALBUMS!

Blue Madonna by Borns- The 2nd album of one of my new favorite artists.
Man of the Woods by Justin Timberlake- A lackluster album.
? by XXXtentacion- I don't get the fanfare for this horrible person.
Boarding House Reach by Jack White- One of the weirdest albums of the year.
Dirty Computer- by Janelle Monae- A promising album for the future of pop.
Attention Attention by Shinedown- The reason rock is dying.
Tell Me How You Really Feel by Courtney Barnett- The future of rock is female.
Family Tree by Black Stone Cherry- Southern Rock at it's finest.
Ye by Kanye West- Did he just say poopity scoop?
Scorpion by Drake- Do I not like Drake or am I not a hip-hop fan?
High as Hope by Florence + the Machine- Her poetry is amazing, her voice is even better.
The Now Now by the Gorillaz- They should just release singles.
Thank you for Today by Death Cab for Cutie- Not a great album, but some great songs.
Kamikaze by Eminem- One of the most intense albums of the year.
Raise Vibration by Lenny Kravitz- Not the same as old Lenny.
Vaxis Act 1: The Unheavenly Creatures by Coheed and Cambria- their return to form!
Trench by Twenty One Pilots- a heavily obscured concept album.
Masters of the Sun vol. 1 by Black Eyed Peas- Back to 3 yet back to rap.
Young and Dangerous by the Struts- Another fun rock album by them.
Simulation Theory by Muse- a jumbled yet fun mess of an album.

Total: 20

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
