S1 Ep. 10- Captain Marvel

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure features a bunch of big news and an awesome movie review! I can't believe we're 10 weeks in and 10 episodes in! Thank you for all you support so we can keep reviewing and keep going on adventures! So with all of that out of the way, let's get rocking!

NEWS!
-Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on October 25th.
-The Prodigy's Kieth Flint passes away at 49. RIP Kieth.

-Innoventions at EPCOT in Disney World is set to be demolished for the overhaul of EPCOT's future world. This includes a character spot, the Innoventions exhibits, the Starbucks, and club cool. It's sad to see this attraction go it's been a staple of EPCOT but it's so hard to update consistently that it's been irrelevant for a while.

-Weezer releases a special edition black Stratocaster for their Black Album. I apologize for my review of that album, I honestly didn't know all of their album were color titled. Also, the streaming services didn't update quick enough to add the song names. So I am truly sorry but it's still not a great album.

-Maleficent 2 is releasing on October 18th and will be the 4th live action Disney remake of the year. This one I don't count as a remake but I don't understand what the purpose of this film is and why it's being made.

-Nintendo Labo Kit #4 is a VR kit is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 12th. I had a feeling VR was coming to the Switch but not in the form of a Labo Kit. I would totally be in on this if I actually finished my Variety Kit.

-Finally, at last! We can visit a galaxy far far away in California on May 31st and in Florida on August 29th in Disneyland and Disney World's Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

REVIEW!

Captain Marvel is the 21st movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the first one set in the 1990's. It stars Brie Larson, Samuel Jackson, Ben Mendelshon, and Jude Law. The movie features mystery, action, space adventure, and aliens and is pretty much everything I want in a superhero movie.

When the movie starts off I was super confused and its actually really jarring and frustrating but the movie does an awesome job slowly answering all the questions throughout the film. By the end of the film you know the full story and every question you've ever had is explained and it all makes perfect sense.

The action scenes were great and never was confusing to watch, the space battles are fun and exciting, the mystery of the story keeps you guessing the entire movie, the characters are fantastic and all very well defined, and the story flips and does a great job of showing everyones true colors in the best and worst ways.

I don't think this is my favorite movie in the MCU but it may end up being my favorite in phase 3. It's a great way to introduce this character that is going to lead the MCU after Avengers Endgame and it really showcases her abilities to carry a film. I love this film, I know it's still super early so I don't want to give away too much about it but if I were you, even if you don't follow the MCU you won't be lost and you'll really enjoy this film.

Is this going on my ultimate shelf? You bet your bottom dollar it is!

So there's episode 10! I hope you enjoyed my painfully spoiler free review of Captain Marvel and are ready for an amazing spring with Galaxy's Edge and Nintendo Labo and are excited to see what's going to happen to EPCOT's future world. Thank you for reading and following and sharing. And please keep going on adventure!

                                All the Best, Ross.

El Deafo

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure takes into the world of Cece Bell's graphic novel turned into an Apple TV+ series titled "El Deafo". It is a semi autobiographical tale of her early life and dealing with her struggles of being deaf. The series also features original music from Waxahatchee a very underrated artist in my opinion! So let's get started on our review and head to Virginia to meet Cece Bell in "El Deafo" First off I would like to say the character designs are super cute and enjoyable to watch. I love the design of the rabbits and the clean lines of the show are very pleasant to look at. The tone of the show is very colorful yet muted and pastel which I really enjoy.  Now I won't give away the plot but as you can guess from the title and the poster that this is the story of how Cece lost her hearing. It is great to see a story for children addressing this topic for them to understand the issue ...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

"Covers" by Cat Power

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This adventure takes us to many genres of music covered by Cat Power! From Iggy Pop to Lana Del Rey to Billie Holiday, this album takes to many genres but somehow feels stale through Cat Power's style.  I knew this was a cover album and was excited to hear all the different songs sung in a new style. Unfortunately these songs are more than just the surface songs and singles. These are lesser known songs from big artists. I loved trying to guess who's song it was and then looking it up afterwards. Even though the artists she covers are from all sorts of genres this album is such a drag to listen to. The 12 songs slog on for 43 minutes and never feel like it's going anywhere. It's like she took the personality from the different artists but not any of the passion. I felt very bored listening to the songs. Two of the songs did make it onto my 2022 playlist including "Pa Pa Power" and "White Mustang...
