S1 Ep. 38- Downton Abbey's Scary Awakening

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? This week's adventures took us to the movies, a video game, and another Scary Pockets album! There's also one bit of news and a trailer to talk about, so let's get started!

NEWS!
-Spider-Man will be returning to the MCU! Disney and Sony finally made a deal! But part 2 of this news is that Kevin Feige will be moving to start work on a Star Wars project.

TRAILERS

Frozen 2 looks like a great sequel to a great story. The first one reached global success and is one of the most successful animated films of all time! The next one seems like a logical next step for the story and characters. I am very excited to see where this movie takes us and the struggles these characters go through next.

REVIEWS!

Downton Abbey is the film that will wrap up the story of the 6 season TV show. I have never seen any of the show so I was going into this film completely blind and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I thought the movie was going to be too focused on the past stories of the show but I was delightfully surprised that the story was very self contained. The premise of this film is the King and Queen are visiting Downton and the whole crew has to step up and serve them to the best of their abilities. It seems like all of the stories were wrapped up and ended in a great way that allows for a great way for the series to end. This is how Game of Thrones should have done it. So, is it going on the ultimate shelf? No. Was I a fan of the presentation and outcome of the film and the series? Yes!

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is the 4th Legend of Zelda game to be released officially (not counting Nintendo Switch Online) on the Nintendo Switch. The first was Breath of the Wild which is a masterpiece, the second was Hyrule Warriors which was fine for a port, the third was Cadence of Hyrule which was really well done but I did not like it, and the fourth is Link's Awakening. The thing that impressed me the most about this game was how wildly different this one is compared to all of the others. The series really has become so diverse that it impresses me. My favorite part of this game is the whole aesthetic of it. The game has adorable graphics and character designs, charming music, and the inclusion of other series's creatures is a welcome and interesting addition. The world feels very open but closed off and I feel like I am progressing slowly but it's satisfying game. Is this going on my ultimate shelf? Yes. It's just a fun and relaxing game that still has some challenge!

Scary Pockets's 3rd album THIS YEAR is titled Modern Art and is honestly the weakest one of the year. They basically do funk covers of popular songs and it's usually a great time but this one just didn't do it for me. Skinny Love and Enter Sandman were the highlights of the album but the rest just kind of fall flat. Due to this, it is not going on my ultimate shelf.

                                     All the Best, Ross

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
