S1 Ep. 43- Kanye's Mansion

Welcome back to Thrak Attack, what's your adventure? This week was an emotional adventure for me but I had plenty of content and other adventures to keep me going! This week's adventures include Luigi Mansion 3 which could be the game of the year depending on how it ends and Kanye West's new album titled "Jesus is King". There was also a trailer for the new Pokemon Anime and a bunch of news. So let's get into it!

NEWS!
-Avengers 5 is now slated for 2023 which will be the finale of the slightly outlined Phase 5 but will feel like a very different movie.
-Jack White performs at a Bernie Sanders rally.
-Andrew Garfield has been casted to star in Lin Manuel Miranda's version of RENT
-My Chemical Romance announce a reunion in 2020... and then so did Rage Against the Machine. Who are you more excited for?
-Overwatch 2 gets announced... and then so did Diablo IV. Again, which one are you more excited for?

TRAILERS

The 2020 anime for Pokemon Japanese trailer has launched and it's a weird mix of Gen 1 and Gen 8. I don't understand why Generation 1 keeps getting love. They had the initial crazy in the late 98 and then the resurgence of fame with 2016's Pokemon Go. But we need to give some love to other generations. Especially with them retelling the story of Ash Ketchum's origins AGAIN! (almost bad as Batman). But I'm hopeful that this is only clips of Ash retelling his start to the new protagonist of this series who seems oddly similar to Ash in a way. It should be an interesting story arc for him and a different direction for the show. Unfortunately no new generation 8 Pokemon were shown off, only Scorbunny (the best new starter), Corvaknight, and Yamper. The rest were mostly Generation 1 Pokemon. I am planning on going all in on Pokemon Generation 8 and I cannot wait to watch the anime proper this time around!

REVIEWS!

Luigi's Mansion 3 is the latest triple A title for the Nintendo Switch and let me tell you, it is fantastic. From the comedic presence of scared Luigi, to nonsense of Gooigi, to the weird chatter speak from all the characters, to the amount of objects to mess with, to some really difficult puzzles, to some relatively easy but satisfying boss ghosts, to an amazing gaming experience all around! I am about halfway through the story and as of right now and could not be happier with my experience. As of now it's game of the year and will kicking out "Concrete Genie" if the ending is as satisfying as the end of that game. The issue I had with Luigi's brother's game (Super Mario Odyssey) was the ending was unsatisfying and weak. If the ending of this game is half as good as what I've been playing it will be game of the year! I mean who doesn't want to be Luigi as a Ghostbuster? It's fantastic and I'm sorry I don't have a lot to say about the game it's just so good there are no critiques! Oh yea, it's on the ultimate shelf for sure!

Kanye West's "Jesus is King"

I usually don't like hip hop music and I especially don't like Kanye West. He's an arrogant and obnoxious person who thinks he's better than everyone else. But that does not mean he's not a talented musician. The best in the world though? No. With my feelings on the artist aside, I really enjoyed this album. His use of vocals as the instruments in his music is super prevalent in this album. He also repeats some lyrics a few times which does has historical and musical precedence. A lot of classical and baroque composers would repeat licks or parts that they found interesting so people would hear it. So in the second track "Selah" when he repeats "I ain't mean I'm just focused." he really wanted to drive home that point. One nitpick I have is his lack of endings on songs, if he's so prolific as an artist can't you finish it? So anyway's here's my one sentence review of the album!

1. Every Hour- A great opener that sets the gospel tone. I love the harmonies and countermelodies
2. Selah- Some great lines but a horrible ending and the Hallelujah chorus is epic!
3. Follow God- The only good part about this song is the Jimi Hendrix sample.
4. Closed on Sunday- This is one of my favorite's on the album, somber and great analogies.
5. On God- This one is the most hip-hop song on the album, which is why I don't like it.
6. Everything We Need- Great use of vocals and the harmonies and beautiful.
7. Water- Such a s chill jam that is much needed with all the drama of the album.
8. God Is- This is the best song on the album and is catchy and emotional.
9. Hands On- I don't like this one because it's too much of "woe is me".
10. Use This Gospel- Great vocal line and that's all this song has going for it.
11. Jesus is Lord- seems like an epilogue to the album and way for Kanye to state the idea of the album which he didn't need to do.

Yes this album will be on the ultimate shelf. Never thought I'd see the day where Kanye West is on my ultimate shelf.

So that's it for the week! Next week me and my girlfriend are meeting my sister in Laguna Beach so it should be an awesome trip and will be the adventure for next week!

                                   All the Best, Ross

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
