Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventures took us to the Galar region and made us watch a whole bunch of upcoming movie trailers for 2020. So let's see what Generation 8 has in store for us and what movies we will start the decade out with!
TRAILERS!
1. Sonic the Hedgehog looks like a horrible movie. Thankfully, no longer does Sonic. They completely redesigned the character to such a positive response I will have to go see this movie to support their efforts!
2. Scoob is the next feature length Scooby Doo movie which features the origin story of how Scooby and Shaggy met. It looks cute enough but it seems a little more mature than the audience it is intended for. I'll probably skip this one.
3. Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge on the Run is a fully 3D animated spongebob film. I didn't like that fact until I realized it was the 3rd Spongebob movie and now I'm alright with it. Unfortunately the plot seems very similar to an episode of spongebob so I'm not too keen on it but I will probably go see it anyways!
4. Charlie's Angels is a reboot of the series with an all new cast and directed by Elizabeth Banks. Just so you know, I love Elizabeth Banks. I think she is one of the most underrated actors of our time and her filmography is just fantastic! So I will be most likely seeing this to support her.
REVIEWS
Pokemon Sword and Shield are the first games in generation 8 and the 16th games in the mainline series of pokemon. This is also the first main line game (not counting Let's Go) to come out on the switch which is technically a home console game.
The games look great, the music is great, the characters are great, the dialogue is great, and the new pokemon designs are great. Unfortunately that's where is draws the line.
The game's region, Galar, is a diverse and beautiful landscape with some really unique places like the glowing forests and gemstone mines. The character designs are really cool too, other than Leon's horrible outfit and facial hair.
I loved the new pokemon and want to play through the game at least 2 more times with different teams and starters. The team this time was...
Cinderace- only had one good fire move and no other good moves. Not great
Bolthund- the best pokemon in Gen 8
Drednaw- a close second with an amazing moveset!
Polteageist- started off rough but once it learned shadow ball really grew on me
Appletun- such a cool designed pokemon with a good moveset but should have been bigger
Orbeetle- the best generic bug yet!
Here is the issue with the game. It's too easy! I didn't lose a single battle in game, I came close a few times but that's about it. It's super lame and I also didn't like the story. The finale was cool but there was never an antagonist that I truly disliked and felt like I needed to stop.
Are these the worst pokemon games? No. But are they the best? No... because it's pokemon and because I feel the need to play through at least 3 times it's going on the ultimate shelf but it really shouldn't be!
Next week will be the Baltimore Trip overview and the new Coldplay album, sorry this one was late!
All the Best, Ross
