S1 Ep. 46- Disney+ and Baltimore

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week had a few adventures including a weekend trip to Baltimore for my sister's wedding and an actual dive into the content of Disney+! So without further introduction, let's get into it!

BALTIMORE
Baltimore is an amazing city where I actually originated from! We arrived Friday morning and was our time to explore the inner harbor. We stopped at an IHOP for breakfast and walked around the Inner Harbor which was a beautiful cool morning. We walked by the Christmas Village, the National Aquarium, the Power Plant, and the World Trade Center. We then walked into the city a bit and saw Edgar Allen Poe's gravesite and explored the cemetery. Finally we got into our hotel room at the Royal Sonesta but went to lunch with the family at Nick's Seafood and I had a delicious crab cake and a Natty Bo beer! That evening we walked to the Rusty Scupper for the rehearsal dinner and had a wonderful time. The wedding was beautiful and we had pictures taken at Fell's Point and it was a beautiful evening! That's pretty much it for the travel portion of the trip and it was fantastic! Fantastic wedding and fantastic city! If I were to move back to the east coast, that would be the city.

Disney+
The first streaming platform that I truly can get behind is... not great. The content is great but the UI is not great. My problem is not the UI, it's actually super organized! But The issue is I can't just click on a show and resume from the previous episode and there is no "recently watched" section. Anyways, here are the shows/movies that I have watched on the platform.
The Simpsons- I haven't seen much of this show, but I'm going all in and watching every episode over time. I enjoy it though! Weird that it's on Disney though.
Gargoyles- One of the greatest cartoons of all time and I'm giving it a fair shake!
Lady and the Tramp- The live action remake of the animated classic does NOT do it justice
Imagineering- A documentary on the history of Disneyland and imagineering. It's pretty great!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars- I'm only a few episodes in but it's picking up!
Lion King- The best animated film of all time!
Avengers- Finally a place for the MCU to truly thrive!
The Mandalorean- This is one of the best things from Star Wars in a while! I didn't love it at first but it's three episodes in and I'm loving it!

There is so much content to get through and so much more to come including the MCU Phase 4 shows! But I will be ready and I have finally found my streaming service! Hopefully those recently watched features come soon!

That's all for this week! Next week I'll be review Frozen 2 and my Thanksgiving trip to California!

                                       All the Best, Ross

El Deafo

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure takes into the world of Cece Bell's graphic novel turned into an Apple TV+ series titled "El Deafo". It is a semi autobiographical tale of her early life and dealing with her struggles of being deaf. The series also features original music from Waxahatchee a very underrated artist in my opinion! So let's get started on our review and head to Virginia to meet Cece Bell in "El Deafo" First off I would like to say the character designs are super cute and enjoyable to watch. I love the design of the rabbits and the clean lines of the show are very pleasant to look at. The tone of the show is very colorful yet muted and pastel which I really enjoy.  Now I won't give away the plot but as you can guess from the title and the poster that this is the story of how Cece lost her hearing. It is great to see a story for children addressing this topic for them to understand the issue ...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

"Covers" by Cat Power

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This adventure takes us to many genres of music covered by Cat Power! From Iggy Pop to Lana Del Rey to Billie Holiday, this album takes to many genres but somehow feels stale through Cat Power's style.  I knew this was a cover album and was excited to hear all the different songs sung in a new style. Unfortunately these songs are more than just the surface songs and singles. These are lesser known songs from big artists. I loved trying to guess who's song it was and then looking it up afterwards. Even though the artists she covers are from all sorts of genres this album is such a drag to listen to. The 12 songs slog on for 43 minutes and never feel like it's going anywhere. It's like she took the personality from the different artists but not any of the passion. I felt very bored listening to the songs. Two of the songs did make it onto my 2022 playlist including "Pa Pa Power" and "White Mustang...
