S2 Ep8- August!

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What’s your adventure? This week’s adventure takes many places! All of the major golf courses in the United States, Disney studios in the early 1990’s, a mall in Tacoma, Washington, Dreamland, Southern California, Lake Pleasant, and more! With all of that out of the way! Let’s see the top 7 for the month!

7. PGA 2k21 could be a great pro golf game. The controls are tight and clean and the presentation is fantastic. But the UI and menus for the game is clunky and don’t make any sense, since it’s always connected to the internet it was slow and kept disconnecting, and I can’t seem to figure out how to change my outfit for a tournament. It’s insane how much that pisses me off!

6. Howard is a heart wrenching story about an amazing person. The man that brought us the music of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast along with the Little Shop of Horrors and the story of his life. It was very dry at times but very informative.

5. “Imploding the Mirage” by The Killers is an album that got pushed back so many times when I actually went to listen to it I was unimpressed. Some of the songs are great such as “My Own Soul’s Warning” and “Caution” but for the most part this album doesn’t have any driving force and falls flat from their other albums.

4. “Dreamland” by Glass Animals is a fun album with a great premise and some breaks in the music to remind you that these kids had a dream. Clips of old videos and music break up some bangers like “Tokyo Driftin’ (feat. Denzel Curry)” and “It’s All So Incredibly Loud”. But most of the album is just alright and doesn’t hit home for me.

3. Lake Pleasant, AZ is a great place to cool off in the summer months when it’s 110 degrees out. The water felt great and it’s a beautiful spot but I don’t think we picked a good spot. There were no mountain vistas or views of the main section of the lake. In the fingers the water is not so clean but we had a fun time relaxing and cooling off!

2. “Sun Via” by Nick Perri and the Underground Thieves is a fantastic album if you like classic rock, especially David Bowie! I was all in on Silvertide, a Philly band that Nick Perri used to play in. I got to see them live at the MMRBQ and were fantastic. Nick Perri is now doing is own thing and being successful! This is his first solo album and it has some really great songs such as “I Want You”, “You”, “Everybody Wants One”, “Let You Know”, and “White Noise”. It’s a contender for album of the year! Not that I have a personal bias or anything... but it is my list!

1. The One and Only Ivan is a fantastic family movie with heart, great acting (both voice and physical), a story (which is based on a true one), and characters. I was almost in tears a few times in this movie because it was just so well done. We figured out that this movie was going to be released just after the Breaking Bad movie to balance Bryan Crantson’s career out. It was also intended to be a counter to Disney’s Dumbo remake. But since the Disney and Fox merger, they decided to release it on Disney+ which is a shame because I thought this movie would have done really well in the theaters! The all star cast did a fantastic job with it especially Bryan Cranston, Danny Devito, and of course Sam Rockwell!

Well that’s it for August! We do have a Flagstaff trip this weekend but I will keep that trip to myself! It will be a fun one! Tuesday I will post the September Look Ahead post! So stay tuned for that!

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
