The Book of Boba Fett

The Book of Boba Fett (TV Series 2021– ) - IMDb

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? And welcome to TV Thursday! On today's adventure we are on our way to Tattooine, again, to follow a character who received a show just because his character design was really cool! Nothing else about him is interesting except that he has some cool friends like Fennec Shand and Din Djarin. This show had a lot of potential but fell flat in my opinion, so let's get into the review!

This show takes place after the events of "Return of the Jedi" and follows the "main" character Boba Fett taking over for the late Jabba the Hutt as the new crime lord. Story wise this makes sense, what doesn't make sense is how he survived to get there. The first half of this show is showing us how amazing Boba Fett is getting out of tough situations but most of those situations are extremely unbelievable and don't carry over to the finale. Temuera Morrison is a great actor but the fact that he's playing a character that has no personality makes the show seem underwhelming and boring. His character traits are...that he can get out of tough situations and survive.

Now the way the show was initially set up was good story telling. Showing the start of his journey out of the Sarlacc pit to taking over for Jabba and jumping back and forth between those two. He shouldn't have survived any of that which makes most of the show worthless because it proves the main character will never be in danger. Also, the Tusken Raider storyline stops halfway through the show which makes no sense and him being the White Savior to that group was cringy.

Next we have the supporting cast which is Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand who is the best part of the show, along with Din Djarin (aka the Mandolorian) but we'll get to him later. Fennec is one of the few characters with a personality in this show. Most of the other followers of Boba Fett are lifeless (until the last episode when the Mod's are like "We'll fight for the city we live in!" which was out of place and forced).

The saving grace of this show is episode 5 and 6 where we follow Din Djarin instead of Boba Fett; but these episodes seem like "The Mandolorian" season 2.5 rather than "The Book of Boba Fett". They also introduce some cheap cameos that make the viewer go "Wow! They're in this too?" but then change the character too much so that they're unrecognizable, or not explain who they are to the audience so that they're involvement in the show and character arcs are non existent or useless.

Needless to say I did not like this show, it was a cheap way to get some popular characters from the extended universe so screen time. It did nothing to add to any of the characters but only undercut some important character development and plot lines from previous stories.

When reviewing shows I give out a 5 star average for the episodes and stars for production, characters, plot, setting, and overall feeling. This show gets a 2 star rating and additional stars for production.

The Book of Boba Fett receives 3 out of 10 stars.

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
