Welcome to the first post of Season 1 in 2019 for Thrak Attack. Every year will be a new season so welcome to Season 1. I know we've been going for a while but I am starting to make videos for each post. Posts will still be on Wednesday and videos will be posted on Sunday. So with all of that out of the way, let's get started!
NEWS!
-Phoenix's Van Buren concert venue receives historic status for the city! It's one of my favorite venues!
-Holmes and Watson is prompting cinema walkouts. Glad I didn't spend my money on seeing it.
-Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland gets an entryway face lift.
-Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge gets a new trailer but still no official release date. Summer 2019 for Disneyland and Fall 2019 for Hollywood Studios.
-Goose the Cat from the upcoming Captain Marvel film get it's own Funko Pop.
REVIEW!
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is a Netflix interactive film but it is not the first interactive film they released. A few years ago they released an interactive Puss in Boots film to some success. Bandersnatch is based on a Lewis Carroll monster of the same name introduced in Through the Looking Glass. The bandersnatch is a creature that resembles a lion and in the film is portrayed as a demon.
In the film, Stefan wants to create a "choose your own adventure" video game in the 1980's based off of a "choose your own adventure book" called "Bandersnatch". The premise of the film nicely compliments the experience you have while watching it. The way the book, the video game, and the film are essentially the same thing as a different medium.
There are so many themes in the film that it's hard to truly grasp it and each decision you make takes you down a different path. There are some that are psychodelic, some that are grounded in realism, some thriller, some are meta, and some are really dark.
Black Mirror continues to thrill and excite me with every episode I watch. Each episode poses a theoretical piece of technology that can change or alter the future and our culture; but in this film the medium you are watching it on is the technology that could change or alter the future of films. The way the story is presented of having multiple cycles of time from the author of the book, the creator of the video game, to even the creator of the show, and finally to the viewer; it's a fantastic film that is infinitely re watchable. If there was a way to get this on my ultimate movie shelf, I totally would!
So hopefully you enjoy what I write about and feel the same way, but if not please let me know! Follow the blog on Facebook and Instagram for more updates! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you join us for the rest of season 1 in 2019!
All the Best, Ross
