REVIEWS!

Super Smash Bros Ultimate gets a Version 3.0 update. This update includes a lot of new content and features including a stage builder, new Mii fighter outfits from Persona and Sonic the Hedgehog, a new stage from the Persona series, new music from the Persona series, and a new fighter, Joker, from Persona 5. This is one of the largest updates I've seen from any game and it's amazing. I haven't gotten a chance to play around with the stage builder, it's not really my thing but I do know you can use the touch screen in handheld mode which would make stage building much more manageable. I know a lot of people have done some amazing (and ridiculous) things on the stage builder already. I have not gotten any of the mii fighter costumes because you need to purchase them but I might eventually. The update really is the introduction of the Persona franchise into Smash Bros. New music, a new stage, and Joker. The stage is super cool it changes colors with what music plays and there are barriers for each side that periodically show up and block off that section of the stage which is an interesting mechanic that doesn't truly cause any stage hazards which is super nice! The big update is the new fighter in Joker. He is a fast and light character that when used correctly can deal some pretty big hits. I love his over B move which sends out a ball of energy that will deal a good amount of residual damage. He has a meter at the bottom and when the meter hits the max his persona comes out and all of his attacks are boosted for a limited amount of time. It's a really cool feature that allows you to play defensively and offensively at different stages throughout the fight. Since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is already on the Ultimate shelf, Joker and the 3.0 update are welcome editions to an already amazing game! Hopefully soon we will get an announcement for the next fighter to be released!

"Social Cues" by Cage the Elephant is their 5th studio album and has a lot to offer in its 45 minute run time. The album feels very different from their debut album in 2008 but not much different from their previous albums. There is a little more rock feel than the alternative feel of their previous album but still does not have the same energy of their self titled album. Let's get into "Social Cues" the title track is the 2nd track on the album and is growing on me. I really like the synth sound throughout the song and the song has a nice and simple groove and some interesting lyrics. The best song on the album is the first single titled "Ready to Let Go" which has the feel of their first big single "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" with the sound of some of their more recent music. It has a really catchy chorus and some cool guitar sounds throughout the song. It's my favorite song on the album. The other songs that stick out to me are "Dance Dance" and "The War is Over" which are pretty solid. Is this album going on my ultimate shelf? No... there isn't enough in it for me to put it there. A lot of the songs feel lazy or uninteresting to me so it will not be making it onto the shelf.

So next week is THE week! The biggest week in Thrak Attack history! Avengers: Endgame, Days Gone for PS4, and 4 albums including Nick Murphy, AJR, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Rob Thomas. It's going to be jam packed with content and I'm hoping I can get to it all! Hopefully it'll be all good stuff! Thank you for reading and keep going on adventures!

                                All the Best, Ross

El Deafo

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure takes into the world of Cece Bell's graphic novel turned into an Apple TV+ series titled "El Deafo". It is a semi autobiographical tale of her early life and dealing with her struggles of being deaf. The series also features original music from Waxahatchee a very underrated artist in my opinion! So let's get started on our review and head to Virginia to meet Cece Bell in "El Deafo" First off I would like to say the character designs are super cute and enjoyable to watch. I love the design of the rabbits and the clean lines of the show are very pleasant to look at. The tone of the show is very colorful yet muted and pastel which I really enjoy.  Now I won't give away the plot but as you can guess from the title and the poster that this is the story of how Cece lost her hearing. It is great to see a story for children addressing this topic for them to understand the issue ...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD LEAKS!!!

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD DO NO READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS! Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This week's adventure is not a traditional adventure. In 2 weeks Pokemon Sword and Shield will be releasing on Nintendo Switch and we got almost every new Pokemon leaked this week! Here's how this will go, I will talk little bit about my thoughts on each line and at the end tell you what my first run through team will be. Let's get started! Grookey, Thwackey, and Rilaboom is the pure grass starter line. it's a great line but I don't like the middle evolution's coloring. It's like green, bright green, and then brown? It just seems odd but I love the idea of the drummer gorilla! Scorbunny, Raboot, and Cinderace is the pure fire starter line. It's not the best line because I don't like the clothes The Pokemon are wearing in their designs. Maybe it'll look better in motions but It's not my favorite. Sobble, Drizzle, ...
