S1 EP. 23- E3 (Part 1)

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your Adventure? This week's adventures are a little different, there's no real adventure but tons of news on future video game adventures due to E3 which is happening this week. So far we've had a Pokemon Direct, Google Stadia, EA, Bethesda, and Xbox. So let's break it down to each section along with a few miscellaneous pieces of news here and there. So with all that out of the way, let's get into the news!!

AVENGERS RELATED NEWS
-Square Enix releases a trailer for their new Avengers game but hopefully we'll get more info during their E3 press conference.
-Avengers directors Anthony and Joe Russo announce they will be making a Magic: the Gathering show for Netflix. No other information is known but as a long time fan of the game, I am super excited and there is a lot of potential for this show! There is a lot of lore and stories to explore in that universe and has a lot of potential for great story telling.

POKEMON DIRECT
Pokemon Sword and Shield direct was held on June 5th with information about the new Pokemon games for the Nintendo Switch. Features, characters, and new Pokemon were announced and here's the highlights!

-7 new Pokemon were announced. Gossifleur is a grass type Pokemon who evolves into Eldagoss. Wooloo is the normal type sheep Pokemon, Corviknight is the steel/flying strongest bird Pokemon in the region, Dreadnaw is the water/rock snapping turtle Pokemon, and the Sword and Shield legionaries Zacian the sword legendary and Zamazenta the shield legendary. I will be going with Shield as my first play through.
-Dynamax is the new feature of this generation. Dynamax is a feature of the game where your Pokemon and grow to a giant size and use a special move but this only lasts for 3 turns and then your Pokemon returns to normal size.
-There are routes in the Galar that are called "The Wild Area" where the camera is free and Pokemon roam around freely and are visible in the over world like "Let's Go".
-Finally, Pokemon Sword and Shield will be releasing on November 15th 2019 for Nintendo Switch.

GOOGLE STADIA
Google also had a decided to have a live stream presentation on June 6th before E3. Stadia is a gaming streaming service launching in November. The idea behind Stadia is a gaming service that uses Google Chrome, Chromecast, and Android devices to stream games to any compatible device. It's 10 bucks a month and launching in November. All you need is a subscription and a Google Stadia controller. Here are some of the games launching with the service!
-Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
-Doom and Doom Eternal
-Rage 2
-Elder Scrolls Online
-Wolfenstein: Youngblood
-Destiny 2
-Final Fantasy VX
-New Tomb Raider Trilogy
-Mortal Kombat 11
-Assassin's Creed Odyssey
-and more...

EA
One of the first big conferences at E3 was EA which was held across the street from the show floor. The big announcement for EA was information about "Jedi Fallen Order" set in the Star Wars Universe and is officially cannon. Lots of great gameplay footage was shown and some story elements including Saw Gerrara from Rogue One. The game looks great and it's releasing on November 15th 2019. Other games announced were Apex Legends (season 2), Volta football is Fifa Street.

Xbox
Xbox announces a ton of new game, their digital game service call game pass and teases their latest console called Project Scarlet with a launch title of Halo: Infinite for Holiday 2020. Other games of note are Elden Ring, The Outer World, Bleeding Edge, Minecraft Dungeons, Gears 5, and of course Cyberpunk 2077 starring Keanu Reeves which was announced by Keanu Reeves himself!

Bethesda
Bethesda's press conference is essentially them saying "Hey we know our games sucked last year, so here's what we're doing to fix that." Here's what they're fixing with all of their games...
-Elder Scrolls Blades: new questlines and classes, features, and will be coming to Switch in the fall. You can also use cross progression so you can transfer your progress from mobile to switch.
-Fallout 76: Wastelanders will add in human NPCs into the game and Nuclear Winter is a battle royale mode within the game.
-Elder Scrolls Online: Adds in Elsweyr as a new region to explore and dragons!
-Commander Keen: is a new mobile game based on a 1990's computer game.
-Rage 2: just random new features
-Wolfenstein: will be getting a VR game with Cyberpilot, and a new game titled Youngblood
-Orion: new software for faster game streaming
-Doom Eternal: Will be releasing on November 22nd 2019

Well that's a lot of news about video games. Games I will be getting for sure are Pokemon Sword and Shield, Jedi Fallen Order (which release on the same day unfortunately), and Elder Scrolls: Blades on Switch. Most of the other games are shooters which I am no good at so I'm not a fan of those games. Next week we might get some new music but we will also have the second of the E3 News including information from the Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Nintendo. We'll see you next week and remember to keep going on adventures.

                                             All the Best, Ross

S3 Finale: Top 10 Shows of 2021

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year I added a new category to Thrak Attack's lineups of adventures. I've never been a big TV show follower but I felt like with the MCU adding TV shows and access to some new streaming services to my roster over quarantine that it was time to add those adventures in! So here is a Thrak Attack first, The Top 10 Shows of 2021! 10. Hawkeye on Disney+  is not a great mini series but has some great character introductions and moments for the MCU. Most importantly introducing Kate Bishop who will hopefully take up the mantle of Hawkeye, Yelena reconciling with Clint about Natasha's death in Endgame, and the reintroduction of a character from the Netflix Marvel shows!   9. The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ was a short and sweet show based on a podcast which is an interesting transition. Both Paul Rudd and Will Ferrel shine in this show showcasing both of their acting chops. The plot is pretty simple but is com...

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? Today's adventure takes us deep into the walls and underneath the ground to the land of Fraggle Rock. But this isn't the first time we've been here, we remember this place from long ago and it's time to go back. A reboot of a series that ended in 1987 is just what Apple TV+ needs right? Let's find out! Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has 13 episodes in it's first season and it's just as charming as you remember. The muppets look as good as ever, the characters a charming, and the world building in this show is actually quite good! Each episode has a fun adventure with a pretty solid through line of exploring "outer space" which is just our world. There are some pretty great jokes that go along with this too. In the pilot episode one of the characters gets attacked by a dog, when telling his friends about it he says "I was attacked by the most vicious space monster" and it cuts to t...

S2 Finale- Top 10 Songs of 2020

Welcome back to Thrak Attack! What's your adventure? This year brought us a ton of music and great albums but sometimes a specific song transcends the album that it's on and sometimes artists release singles. So this is the list celebrating those gems on mediocre albums and singles artists have released throughout the year! Top 10 Songs of 2020 10. "When You Get That Feeling" by Nate Bo is a debut song from one of my good friends. It's a solid jam with an R&B vibe and wicked vibraphone solo. I used to play music with Nate in college and I'm glad to see him with a successful first song! I can't wait to see what's next for Nate in his career! 9. "Twice Your Size" by Declan McKenna is off his sophomore album titled "Zeros". Although the album suffered from production issues that muddied up the brilliant lyrics, this is the few songs that didn't suffer from that. The energy that this song brings to the table is exactly what t...
